Welcome to WHS!

Welcome to the website of Willcox High School, home of the Cowboys! We are located in Cochise County, Arizona, in the quaint historic town of Willcox, and we serve students in grades nine through 12. Though we are a small school, we take pride in providing an excellent education for our students that will empower them to become responsible and compassionate adults and prepare them to succeed in a highly technological world.

In addition to our outstanding academic curriculum, we also offer special education and gifted education programs to cater to specific student needs as well as a variety of clubs and athletic activities for those seeking extracurricular opportunities.

Cowboy Nation!

WHS started the new school year on a great note! I want to thank our staff, students, and families for making the transition from summertime to the new school year a smooth transition. I will be sending out quarterly letters home with information that may be important to our students or their families.

One item that we recognize as an important issue is Chromebook Insurance. A number of families filled out paperwork stating that they were interested in purchasing the insurance, but have not made the payment yet. Chromebook Insurance helps to cover accidental damage (lost or stolen Chromebooks are not included in the coverage) to the Chromebook for $30.00 for the whole school year. If a student has accidental damage but has not paid for the insurance, they may have to pay $250 for the repair of the Chromebook. If you are interested in purchasing Chromebook Insurance, you can go to our Attendance Office and see Mrs. Hardy and she’ll be sure to get you a receipt and we will update our spreadsheet. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

We’ve also had a number of issues with dress code (either shirts are cut too low in the chest area, midriffs – back and stomach area – are showing, and inappropriate alcohol/language on attire). Please remind your students to follow our dress code expectations. We have reviewed the expectations several times and it’s clearly stated in the student handbook. We appreciate your support in reinforcing our expectations.

We will begin our WHS Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings for the 24-25 school year, on Monday September 16 at 4:00 p.m. in room 307. If you are interested in joining our WHS PAC, please email me and I will add you to our email list. We meet up to four times a school year – and it’s a great opportunity to partner with families to make WHS an awesome place for our staff and students.

      If you haven’t already done so, we encourage all families to fill out a Free/Reduced Lunch Application (whether you qualify or not). Those applications help WHS receive funds (E-Rate) that we can use for technology for our students. This school year, if you qualify for a Reduced Lunch Price, your student will receive their meal for free! You can pick up an application at our WUSD District Office or our WHS Attendance Office. If your student is charging for breakfast or lunch, we are encouraging them to keep their balance below $15.00. You may be receiving notices in the mail regarding balances owed (these fees may be accrued from elementary school and middle school charges). If you do owe money for cafeteria fees, please go to our WUSD District Office or our Cafeteria to pay (our clerk does not take payment for cafeteria fees because SODEXO is a separate company). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

      We are looking forward to having a very successful school year and we are grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with your students. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me. If you call our offices, please make the appropriate selection on the menu and if there is no answer, please leave a message – we will return your call promptly (please remember that we work Monday through Thursday, so calls on Thursdays may not be returned until Monday). We are Willcox!!!
